Pictures, is an all-day dining contemporary restaurant offering great cuisine in the buzzing part of Shepherds Bush Green. With its European infused menu, Pictures is a welcoming stylish eatery in which to enjoy either a light lunch or a full dining experience in the evening. Everything on the menu is made in house using fresh ingredients delivered by its carefully selected suppliers.
To create a sense of occasion, guests can start off the night with an aperitif at the hotel’s stylish ‘Jin Bar’, in the beautiful golden atrium of Dorsett Shepherds Bush. We decided to take our cocktails in the elegant modern surroundings of the restaurant with mirrors and pictures of Hollywood screen sirens hanging on the walls. Having looked over the menu and listened to the recommendations of our waitress, I decided to go for the popular Crispy Calamari. This is an unusual way to served squid as it was very crispy but the flavours were interesting.
My dining companion chose the Crayfish Cocktail made with freshwater crayfish, avocado fan and brandy marie rose sauce. Simple presentation with the crayfish and avocado allowed to take centre stage on the plate.
The main course choices include the Chuck & Rump burger consisting of 8oz Suffolk beef rump, beef tomato, streaky bacon and cheddar cheese served with skinny fries and Dorsett’s house sauce – not for the faint-hearted or those with a small appetite! My dining companion was drawn to the slow cooked pork ribs marinated in smoked paprika dry rub and cooked in a barbecue sauce before being served with American coleslaw and a generous portion of colourful salad. If you arrived hungry you certainly won’t leave that way after this dish!
I chose a lighter option of Poached Teriaki Salmon with the rich Japanese flavour of the teriaki balanced by Scottish salmon supreme texture. Although usually served with an oriental inspired wasabi and scallion mash, I preferred to pair this dish with some crushed roast potatoes and for the wine we chose a delicious Rioja Rosado with notes of strawberry and raspberry developing through to juicy pineapple and tropical flavours.
A range of sumptuous desserts tempt the taste buds with flavours including Vanilla Crème Brulee Cheesecake served with a berry compote – the perfect marriage of two popular desserts in one.
Chocolate lovers will not be disappointed with the dense fudge-like consistency of the Pistachio Chocolate Brownie with the green jewel-like pistachios running through the cake covered with a smooth ganache topping and served with raspberry ice cream which cut through the richness of the chocolate beautifully.
If you’re in the area after a day’s shopping at Westfield why not avoid the ubiquitous chain restaurants in the shopping mall and come to Pictures instead for something a little different. We also hear the breakfasts are quite good too so you might even want to extend your visit overnight!
