“The Grand is diverse as a hotel as it caters for all and is the perfect place to hold meetings.Upon arrival we were met at the door by the porter who took our car keys as part of the valet service and was very helpful in aiding us unload the car. Comically we realised we had left our luggage at home, and the service and help we received exceeded way beyond the call of duty.”

“We chose the seafood afternoon tea as we wanted to taste the delights of the grounds take on tea by the sea. With refreshing tastes and textures throughout, The Seafood Afternoon Tea is the perfect accompaniment to a relaxing afternoon in Brighton and includes seafood such as fresh crab, treacle-cured salmon, Poole Bay oysters, Keta caviar and langoustines accompanied by brown bread ice cream. This tea is undoubtedly one of a kind and a delicious alternative to the traditional afternoon tea. We think this delectable offering is heaven for any seafood lover and a unique experience to enjoy together with a loved one.”
The Spa
“We were treated to 3 treatments. The first was a manicure which was a great way to relax. It started with a hand massage and then the cuticles were treated with cuticle oil and a nice polish applied to the nails. The second treatment we experienced was a facial which was relaxing but would need more than one to see long term effects. The third and final treatment we received was staying at the ground was a back and neck massage which reduced the knots in my shoulders from bad posture at my keyboard!”
“The ground has several therapy rooms designed to make you fall into a sense of relaxation. The ambience is perfect with beautiful music lightly playing in the background. To set the mood before treatment started you will be given a hot mineral steam inhalation to relax. The massage oils smell great and the masseuse gives a firm but relaxing massage letting you unwind and takes the tension out of all muscles.”
Spa facilities include a treatment rooms including a VIP couple suite, a thermal suite incorporating a steam room and sauna, manicure stations and pedicure thrones, relaxation lounge including an impressive large bed in the middle of the room, the spa cafe which served light lunches and refreshments.
GB One Restaurant
GB1’s philosophy is quality with simplicity. The 2 AA Rosette restaurant offers a fantastic choice of the finest and freshly caught seafood from Brighton’s shores. Executive Chef Alan White’s brigade of passionate and inventive chefs add a contemporary touch to classic English cuisine. The striking lobster burger is a must try, as is the fruits de mer and an oyster or two. The seasonally changing menu also boasts meats from the grill, classic Sussex favourites and vegetarian dishes. Whether you want a quick bite, a glass of bubbly from the striking Champagne bar, an intimate private dining experience or a lavish celebratory feast, GB1 offers perfect dining to suit all.
We had been invited to sample the hotels menu at their fabulous restaurant seafood restaurant GB one. The menu has a very good selection of meat but it is the seafood that they are famed for.
“To start we shared the fruits de mer seafood platter. There are three choices of seafood platters and we went for the fresh crab which is £28 and and consisted of arm whole crab are generous proportions, prawns, langoustines, whelks and interestingly one oyster. All the seafood is purchased fresh each day from Shoreham. To ensure maximum freshness the crabs and lobsters are bought in live and dispatched on site in the kitchens.
The generous proportions of the platter were very impressive and even though we were sharing it between two as a starter and it took us a whole hour to get through. For mains I chose the Dover sole and my dining companion had one of the specials which was the seafood linguine. Again the portions were generous. For dessert I chose the sorbet and went for Elderflower and Rosewater. Both were delicately fragranced and refreshing without being too sweet. My dining companion chose the chocolate fondant made with Valrhona chocolate and served with a unusual but delicious banana and Nutella ice cream.”
