Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel & Resort is located on the stunning Solent Coast, at the edge of the New Forest and lies within 23 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The hotel offers the perfect setting for any occasion with spacious en-suite accommodation, excellent facilities and beautiful gardens.
We arrived in style in the new DS 7 CROSSBACK – just launched by the French car brand DS Automobiles, this SUV combines the latest technological innovations with Parisian savoir-faire DS is known for. On the drive down from London we certainly enjoyed the optimum levels of driving comfort and performance offered by the new DS 7 CROSSBACK – the perfect SUV for those who keep up with the latest trends and enjoy living a lifestyle of luxury.
Talking of luxury lifestyle, the Tudor Bar with its rich oak panelling is the ideal venue for pre-dinner drinks to enjoy one of the bartender’s creative cocktails or to savour one of the vast selection of single malts after dinner as the perfect nightcap for whisky connoisseur.
The Glenville Lounge Room also offers guests the perfect place to relax and connect with other residents of the hotel.
Just a minutes’ walk away from the Manor House, guests will find a quaint courtyard housing 42 delightful en-suite bedrooms as well as the Scottish Steak Club restaurant which offers a more relaxed dining experience, serving locally sourced, top quality ingredients.
As part of an extensive bedroom refurbishment at Macdonald Elmers Court Hotel & Resort, the newly designed Feature Suites are modern, elegant and extremely spacious, offering a private living area, dining room and king-sized bed. We felt right at home here even before our bags were unpacked.
Complimentary bottled water in the room is just one nice touch. Other highlights include a fruit bowl, wine & chocolates with luxury Elemis toiletries and comfy bath robes & slippers to relax in.
The bathroom is modern with a roomy shower to help awaken the senses in the morning!
No visit to Macdonald Elmers Court is complete without making the most of the excellent leisure facilities complete with the two 15-metre heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a state of the art fully equipped Technogym, as well as an array of other indoor and outdoor activities.
Also worth a visit is the hotel Spa. With four treatment rooms and a relaxation area, the sensuous Spa provides you with the right balance of luxury and tranquility. On hand is a team of trained experts who will help you relax and recharge through a range of spa therapies that are all personalised around your individual needs to deliver a results-driven bespoke experience using various products from the ELEMIS spa range.
We highly recommend the Deep Tissue Massage which uses flowing massage techniques to work deeper into the tension you hold in your body to alleviate high stress levels, release muscle pain and encourage optimum circulation. Alternatively choose one of the rejeuvenating facials on offer for smoother, younger-looking skin that looks plump, radiant and nourished. The Spa is the perfect place for guests to unwind after a long day roaming the local area and taking in the beautifully landscaped hotel gardens.
The elegant Waterford Restaurant located in the 19th century Manor House affords views of Lymington River and the Solent coast across the verdant Queen Mary Lawn. It offers diners a classic British menu with its fine seasonal ingredients and impressive wine list.
Dinner at The Waterford is not to be missed. The wild garlic butter is fantastic here and the bread is also served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar for those of us who are lactose intolerant.
We started with an amuse bouche of Cheese Straw on a soft cheese base.
This was joined by a delectable bite of Mushroom Arachini on a ragu base.
Moving on to starters, I enjoyed the Balsamic Roasted Onion Tart Tatin with dressed mixed leaves.
My dining companion had the Duo of Smoked Fish Mousse served with beetroot caviar and toasted ciabatta. Macdonald Hotels & Resorts are wild about fish and all their white fish is wild caught from sustainable sources.
Fish isn’t their only food passion. All lamb and beef is Scottish with beef matured for a minimum of 21 days. This is showcased in main courses including the succulent Prime Scottish Beef Burger in a delicious pretzel bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion and a side of fries.
The chicken on the menu is free range corn fed UK poultry and they only use British pork. My dining companion was very pleased with the quality and flavour of the Pan Fried Pork Belly served with a juicy Langoustine, crushed peas and a madeira jus.
Those with a sweet tooth who still have room for dessert can look forward to delights such as Chocolate Torte, Eton Mess, Lemon Posset or Cherry Bakewell. What a delightful end to our evening after a luxurious hotel experience at Macdonald Elmers Court!
